Part of our Key on the left collection - this time with a zipper. Discreet at the front, clear at the back: the finely embroidered Key on the Left Society lettering on the chest and the multi-layered high-density print on the back that leaves no doubt - ignition on the left.

The fabric is the same as our popular hoodie: 340 g/m² organic cotton with a soft, brushed fleece lining. Unlike the oversized version, the jacket comes in a regular unisex cut - closer to the body, suitable for everyday wear and easy to combine. The double-layered hood provides structure and comfort.

]]> Important note on this product: Conventional textiles contain many harmful substances that are absorbed through the skin. We have therefore decided to produce our textile products as sustainably as possible. Our fabrics are therefore produced according to the strict GOTS criteria. However, this also means that our sweaters and hoodies fluff a little before the first few washes. This is because we use a mechanical and not a chemical process to roughen the inside. This protects the environment and makes the fabric particularly soft, but some loose fluff still remains. These become less with each wash and after 3-4 gentle washes, the small disadvantage has resolved itself.

Key on the left. Three words. Anyone who drives a sports car from Zuffenhausen needs no explanation.

This key ring is the lobster clasp version of our “Key on the left” collection – for all those who prefer to carry their keys securely fastened rather than loose in their pocket. The lobster clasp made of matt black metal snaps into place neatly and does what it should. The leather strap made of genuine full-grain leather bears the embossed lettering on both sides – discreet, but immediately recognizable for those who know it.

Handmade by our cooperation partner in England, in a small leather workshop. Like all pieces in this collection.

Why is the ignition lock on the Porsche actually to the left of the steering wheel?

The position of the ignition switch can be traced back to the beginnings of the infamous 24 Hours of Le Mans race in France. At the start in Le Mans, which was introduced in 1925, it was customary for the participating racing drivers to stand a few meters away from their car and walk to the car by signal before the start was given. To ensure that the starting procedure could be carried out as quickly as possible and no time was wasted, Porsche engineers eventually installed the start button to the left of the steering wheel. This allowed the drivers to start the car as soon as they got in.

This method of starting has not been used at Le Mans since 1971, but Porsche has retained the position of the ignition switch to the left of the steering wheel. It is now legendary and always causes confusion for Porsche newcomers at the start. Incidentally, there is also the story that the starter was moved to the left-hand side to save costs due to a shortage of materials (cables). It was only later during the races that it was realized that this was also an advantage. But let's be honest, the Le Mans story is much cooler, isn't it?
